Overview
Protandim®, a patented product developed by LifeVantage Corporation was proven by an earlier study to actually slow the progressive rate of aging. This new study confirms that Protandim's gene induction approach to antioxidant therapy provides much broader and more powerful benefits to the body than those provided by vitamins such as C and E.
Dr. Joe McCord, a co-author of the study, commented, "The results of this study may change how we view aging and the factors that impact healthy aging. Notably, glutathione, which is of particular interest to many disease researchers, was increased more than 300 percent with Protandim. Glutathione plays a key role in the immune system and when glutathione levels drop, a person's ability to fight disease also decreases. In addition to the findings on glutathione, the study also shows that Protandim delivers an antioxidant benefit to the body that exceeds those provided by vitamins C and E." McCord added, "Contrary to popular belief, our bodies don't actually rely upon the intake of vitamins, such as C and E, to maintain proper antioxidant balance; rather we utilize a complex network of antioxidant enzymes to maintain health and protect against oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is damaging to our bodies and is a major contributor to aging, weakened immune function, and over 200 diseases. Protandim reduces oxidative stress by enhancing the body's entire network of antioxidant enzymes." The study was conducted by scientists at the University of Colorado Denver and Ochsner Medical Center.
The natural ingredients in Protandim were specifically chosen based upon their ability to cause the body to produce and up-regulate its natural network of antioxidant enzymes, including SOD and CAT. Protandim has been formulated using high quality, potent natural plant extracts processed under proprietary technologies. It therefore provides powerful antioxidant protection against oxidative stress. For More Info: www.ForGlutathione.com

- Green Tea
- Milk thistle
A shrub cultivated in India and North America whose roots have been used for thousands of years by Ayurvedic practitioners. Ashwagandha root contains flavonoids and many active ingredients of the withanolide class. Several studies over the past few years have looked into whether this herb has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-stress, antioxidant, mind-boosting, immune-enhancing, and rejuvenating properties. Historically ashwagandha root has also been noted to have sex-enhancing properties.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb that is extensively used in Ayurveda, the traditional health care system in India. This herb is used as a general tonic and "adaptogen," helping the body adapt to stress. In addition, ashwagandha has been shown to possess antioxidant activity which may explain in part, the reported anti-stress, cognition-facilitating, anit-inflammatory and anti-aging effects, as well as an ability to support a healthy immune system.
An Ayurvedic herb used in India for memory enhancement. Ayurvedic medicine has touted the cognitive enhancing effects of Bacopa monniera for centuries. Bacopa herb commonly grows in marshy areas throughout India. Studies show that bacopa herb has strong antioxidant properties, protects mental function in those with epilepsy who take the drug phenytion, while a study on rats showed bacopa administration improves learning skills. Two saponins, designated as bacopaside I and II, are found in Bacopa monniera. Additional phytochemicals betulinic acid, wogonin and oroxindin have been isolated from the aerial parts of Bacopa monniera. Bacopa also has the flavonoids apigenin and luteolin.
Bacopa has been revered for centuries in the Ayurvedic herbal tradition of India to enhance clear thinking and support memory function. Studies have shown that Bacopa supports learning and memory in humans. In animal models, Bacopa monnieri provides antioxidant protection for critical memory centers and helps to reduce the effects of stress on the brain. Traditional application suggests that Bacopa has a direct effect on improving brain functions, increasing concentration, and in promoting memory functions. Bacosides play a protective role in the synaptic functions of the nerves in the hippocampus, the seat of memory. Nerve impulses are transmitted across the synapses and their degeneration is believed to contribute to impaired memory and cognition.
A plant native to south India and Indonesia. Its tuberous rhizomes (root like structures) have been used from antiquity as a condiment, as a textile dye, and for medical purposes. Curcuminoids are the major substances that give the spice turmeric its yellow color. Curry powder, which is extensively used in Indian cuisine, is largely made of turmeric and other spices such as coriander and fenugreek. Curcuma Longa is the botanical name for turmeric. The major curcuminoids are curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin which are powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
Curcumin extract is one of the major antioxidant extracts found in the spice turmeric. The roots of the turmeric plant are used as an herb in Asian cooking such as curries. Curcumin is a major component of turmeric herb and extensive scientific research has demonstrated their potent antioxidant properties. Through their antioxidant mechanisms, curcumin and turmeric support colon health, exert neuroprotective activity and help maintain a healthy cardiovascular system. There is ongoing research regarding the role of this herbal extract for its use in Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, inflammatory conditions, and several types of cancer.
Fresh green tea leaf is unusually rich in polyphenols which may constitute up to 30% of the dry leaf weight. Polyphenols include catechins, flavanols, chlorogenic acid, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and one unique to tea, theogallin. Caffeine in green tea is present at an average level of 3% along with very small amounts of methylxanthines, theobromine and theophylline. The amino acid theanine (5-N-ethylglutamine) is also unique to tea. Green tea is consumed primarily in China, Japan, and a few countries in North Africa and the Middle East. In recent years green tea has become popular in Europe and North America and now green tea pills are touted for weight loss, as potent antioxidants, and for tumor prevention. Human research is still very early, but the potential health benefits ascribed to green tea include antioxidant effects, cancer chemoprevention, antiviral effects, blood thinning properties, improving cardiovascular health, slowing mental decline, enhancing weight loss, arthritis protection, and protecting the skin from the damage caused by ionizing radiation. The compound EGCG found in green tea has been shown to regulate dozens of disease-specific molecular targets.
Commonly found growing wild in a variety of settings, including roadsides. The Latin name of milk thistle is Silybum marianum. The seeds of the dried flower are used. Milk thistle's active ingredient is a flavonoid called silymarin, an antioxidant said to protect liver cells from toxins. Silymarin apparently promotes liver cell protein synthesis and decreases the oxidation of glutathione.
Studies show silymarin, silibinin, and other flavonoids found in milk thistle may benefit in a number of conditions including alcoholic cirrhosis and tumors. Many compounds in milk thistle, for instance silibinin, have shown potent anti-prostate and anti-lung cancer activity. Milk thistle herbal supplements are mostly used for liver health.
